On May 28 in Svetlogorsk the Fund of knowledge and technologies for small and medium-sized businesses "Victoria" in collaboration with the Coordination Center for support of export-oriented small and medium enterprises in the Kaliningrad region held a round table on the theme: "The Kaliningrad region as a platform for exchange of efficient technologies in small, micro-businesses and self-employment".
The round table was attended by representatives of leading industrial enterprises of Kaliningrad region: the company "AeroBlok", LLC "Znamensky composite plant"; innovative companies: LLC "Prussia", handicraft village "Samba"; experts from innovation department in KSTU, employees of city municipalities, entrepreneurs and many others.
The head of the Coordination Center for support of export-oriented SMEs in Kaliningrad region Vladimir Varchenko opened the work of the round table with a welcoming speech. Mr. Varchenko noted the importance of the topic of the round table for the introduction of new technologies in the region aimed to improve the competitiveness of small and medium-sized businesses. During the round table its participants shared their experience in the field of search and implementation of new technologies in the production process, experts talked about the need to build a constructive dialogue between the research laboratories in universities and enterprises. According to the opinion of many experts, the creation of a platform where requests of a real sector of economy will be heard by the competent research laboratories will reduce the dependence of production companies from the import of foreign advanced technologies through more effective implementation of domestic know-how.
These ideas were introduced in the speech of Oleg Matukevich, president of the Fund "Victoria". Mr. Matukevich emphasized the important role of Kaliningrad region in this process. Being the most western province of Russia, Kaliningrad has an extensive network of research and educational institutions which are actively involved in the development of new technologies for the benefit of production companies.
Lively discussion during the round table reaffirmed that the field of international technology transfer is gaining more attention in Russia. It opens up new business opportunities and creates a positive momentum for the development of a domestic base of new technologies.
